Live, per-database update status straight from the update system's own ledger — the same
freshness the API serves at /v1/last-updates. Sources join the automated
rollout in phases; until a source joins, its data is the verified initial load and it is
listed here honestly as “initial load” rather than pretended current.

Statuses are never fabricated: a source's date only advances when new observations were actually
fetched and merged, and a silent upstream failure shows up red here rather than being papered over.
